Additional ISR King Air 350ER Ordered for Iraqi Air Force

BEECHCRAFT DEFENSE Co was awarded a US Air Force Foreign Military Sales contract contract yesterday, March 24, for one King Air 350 extended range aircraft modified with an intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capability for delivery to the Iraqi Air Force. The $27 million deal also includes one Scorpion ground station and one complete spare Scorpion ground station.

Work on the contract will be performed at Wichita, Kansas, and San Diego, California, and is expected to be complete by March 23, 2017. Iraq has previously taken delivery of six King Air 350ERs under the Peace Dragon programme. All six were delivered in 2008, five of them being in ISR configuration, while the sixth was a standard transport version. The type is operated by 87 Squadron, which is based at Baghdad-New Al Muthanna Air Base. Alan Warnes
