Chile to extend life of P-3As

INSTEAD OF buying more CN235MP Persuaders, the Chilean Navy has opted to extend the service life of their three remaining Lockheed P-3A Orions that will see them soldier on until 2030. They are the last from a total of eight received twenty yeas ago from the US Navy, while a fourth is used for transport and the others were retired.  The planes will receive new wings, and new avionics allowing them the capability to fire AGM-84 Harpoon missiles, while their engines and airframes will be overhauled. Two of the planes have already been fitted with the new equipment in New Zealand, which includes the Elta EL/M 2022A maritime radar. Santiago Rivas
