Colombia closer to the F-16

THE COLOMBIAN Air Force is currently negotiating with Lockheed Martin to purchase a batch of F-16 Fighting Falcon to replace their IAI Kfir C10 and C12 and Air Force officials informed they expect to have the first planes in two or three years.

Despite no official confirmation, the negotiations are for a batch of second hand planes, most probably of the Blocks 30 or 40, with some modernization and the quantity under discussion range from 12 to 24 planes, perhaps in two different batches. The Colombian Air Force needs a replacement to their Kfirs, which are 30 years old and have also served with the Israeli Air Force before acquisition. Santiago Rivas
