Colombian Navy to receive more Bell 412

THE COLOMBIAN Navy is to receive four new Bell 412 before the end of the year, to increase their fleet of helicopters for use on interdiction, assault and transport missions. The plan is to use them mainly on board the Almirante Padilla class frigates against the “Go fast” vessels used by drug traffickers. They will be equipped with GAU-17 miniguns and Barrett sniper rifles, the last to destroy the engines of the vessels and the miniguns to fire it they are fired upon.

The force also informed their interest on buying a larger helicopter to be used on a future class of frigates, which will have a bigger flight-deck.  It is particularly interested in the SH-60  Seahawk. Santiago Rivas
