EW & Radar Contracting News: US Department of Defense

(01/09/15) – Leidos has been awarded a US$7.8 million cost-plus-fixed-fee contract from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to continue a research project under the Shared Spectrum Access for Radar and Communications (SSPARC) program (Coexistence Phase 2). The contractor will continue its research in the area of spectrum sharing between radar and communications systems to build on prior work carried out in the coexistence thrust of Phase 1. The completion date is estimated as August 2016.

(31/08/15) – Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems has been awarded a US$33 million modification to a previously awarded firm-fixed-price contract for the procurement of 10 MH-60R full-rate production Airborne Low Frequency Sonar Lot XII systems. The completion date is expected to be in February 2018. The contract was placed by Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR).

(31/08/15) – Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems has received a not-to-exceed award of US$175 million contract for Phase II of the Qatar Air and Missile Defense Operations Center (ADOC) program. Contractor will provide for the procurement, delivery, and installation of the Qatar ADOC as well as the future integration of multiple air and missile systems into the ADOC.

This is a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) acquisition between the U.S. government, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, and the state of Qatar. Work will be completed by February 2022.

(31/08/15) – Exelis has received a US$38 million cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for electronic countermeasures set line replacement units for aircraft. This was a sole-source acquisition with an August 2018 completion date. The contract is through the Defense Logistics Agency Aviation.

(28/08/15) – Northrop Grumman Systems has been awarded a US$15 million modification to the previously awarded contract for the Large Aircraft Infrared Counter Measures Viper 2.1 lasers. The contractor will provide 106 Viper 2.1 lasers as a part of this contract effort. Work is expected to be complete by April 2017. This contract involves foreign military sales and is contracted through the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center.

(28/08/15) – Thales Raytheon Systems has received a US$82 million cost-plus-fixed-fee, multi-year, foreign military sales contract (Finland, Lithuania, Netherlands, Chile) for sentinel radar technical/logistical services. The estimated completion date is 31 December, 2018. The contract is through Army Contracting Command.
