THE FIRST of six EC725 rotorcraft acquired by Indonesia for combat search and rescue (CSAR) missions has been handed-over by Airbus Helicopters. Announcing the event at Indodefence 2014 in Jakarta, Indonesia, on November 6, the company said it had taken place at the factory in Marignane, France, on October 22. Present to accept the aircraft were members of the Indonesian Ministry of Defence, Indonesian Air Force and PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI).
It will be delivered to the Indonesian Air Force by mid-2015, after PTDI has completed mission equipment outfitting and customization at its Bandung, West Java, facility. PTDI President Budi Santoso, said: “We will continue to work closely with Airbus Helicopters to ensure the on-time delivery of the remaining units, as we anticipate an additional order from the Air Force for ten more EC725s to complete its squadron of 16 helicopters.” Alan Warnes
