Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) is to incorporate a signals intelligence (SIGINT) capability into five Afghan National Army Special Operations Forces Pilatus PC-12/47Es. A $9.35 million Foreign Military Sales contract was awarded to SNC on March 18 by the USAF’s 645 Aeronautical Systems Group (AESG), Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, to undertake the SIGINT conversion.
Work will be performed in SNC’s facility at Centennial Airport, Denver, Colorado. The contract is expected to be complete by December 31, 2015. Although the US Department of Defense awarded a contract to SNC on October 16, 2012, for provision of 18 Afghan PC-12s, 13 of which have now been delivered.
