The press office of the Elysée Palace in Paris announced on June 10 that Kuwait intends to order 24 Airbus Helicopters H225M Caracals. A brief statement said that the contract would be signed “as soon as possible.”
The contract will be signed in the presence of French Minister of Defence Jean-Yves le Drian and his Kuwaiti counterpart, Shiekh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah. The decision followed a telephone conversation between the French President, François Hollande, and the Emir of Kuwait, His Highness Shekh Sabah Al Amhad Al Jaber Al Sabahm. During their conversation they also discussed the ongoing commitment of France to Kuwait to ensure its security.
The H225Ms (the new designation for the EC725 following the recent Airbus Helicopters rebranding of its product line) will be operated by the Kuwait Air Force. Alan Warnes
