US ARMY Contracting Command awarded a $203.5 million Foreign Military Sales (FMS) contract on September 15 to Sikorsky Aircraft for the manufacture of 18 UH-60M Black Hawks for the Mexican Air Force. The deal covers procurement of 18 green’ UH-60Ms and 18 sets of green FMS government furnished property and contractor furnished property for installation on these helicopters.
Estimated completion date for the contract is May 30, 2016. At present, the Mexican Air Force has six S-70A-24 Black Hawk variants in service, which were delivered between September 1991 and 1994. The Mexican Navy also has three UH-60Ms in service, which were delivered in August 2011. In addition, the Mexican Federal Police has six S-70A Black Hawks that have been in service since 2008 and six UH-60Ms, the first three of which were handed over in November 2010. Alan Warnes
