Sikorsky Aircraft has been awarded an $11.28 million contract for a single UH-60M Black Hawk for Jordan. The Foreign Military Sales deal was awarded by US Army Contracting Command yesterday, July 9.
The order represents a modification to the $2.8 billion deal awarded to Sikorsky on July 11, 2012, for to 916 UH/MH-60 helicopters for delivery to the US Army, US Navy and Foreign Military Sales customers. The estimated contract completion date is December 31, 2015.
The Royal Jordanian Air Force has previously taken delivery of eight UH-60L and two VIP VH-60M Black Hawks. All are operated by the RJAF’s 30 Squadron, based at Zarqa.
The UH-60Ls support Jordan’s Special Operations Aviation Brigade, while the VH-60Ms are used as back-up aircraft for the Jordanian Royal Flight, but are also used for special operations training when not required in their primary role. Alan Warnes
