THE PANAMANIAN Servicio Nacional Aeronaval (SENAN – Naval Aviation National Service) is now operating six Agusta Westland AW139s after the last two were delivered in June. The official delivery to the 2nd Helicopter Squadron, at Capitán Juan Delgado Air Base, Tocumen took place on September 23.
The helicopters were ordered in 2010 as part of a contract with Finmeccanica, worth $250 million, which included 19 radars. The first helicopters arrived during January 2013 and were being used for tests and training until officially delivered to their unit, which will use them for transport, SAR and anti-drug operations.
