During a visit to Paris by Saudi Defence Minister and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on June 24, it was announced that Saudi Arabia is purchasing 23 Airbus Helicopters H145 light twin-engined helicopters. The deal, valued at $500 million, was revealed during a media briefing by French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius.
Fabius said it is part of a much larger series of contracts with Saudi Arabia that were being signed on the same day, valued at a total of $12 billion. The announcement followed the first Franco-Saudi Joint Commission meeting held in Paris on the same day, led by Fabius and the Saudi Defence Minister.
The H145 is the new designation for the EC145T2, following the company’s recent rebranding of its helicopter product line. Alan Warnes
