Two More UH-60M Black Hawks for Mexican Navy

Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation was awarded a $22,557,911 contract by US Army Contracting Command on September 15 for two more UH-60M Black Hawks for the Mexican Navy. Estimated contract completion date is June 30, 2016.  Fiscal 2015 other procurement funds in the amount of $ $ 22,557,910 were obligated at the time of the award.  Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is the contracting activity.

The deal exercises options under the $2.8 billion contract awarded to Sikorsky on July 11, 2012, which covered multi-year procurement of up to 916 UH/MH-60 Helicopters for the US Army, US Navy and FMS customers. The Mexican Navy took delivery of an initial three UH-60Ms on August 24, 2011. They were transferred to Mexico by the US as part of the US government-funded Merida Initiative, a $1.4 billion aid agreement signed in March 2007 to assist in the fight against drug trafficking in Latin America.

A further five of the type, which were ordered on December 15, 2014, are due for delivery to the Mexican Navy by May 30, 2016. Together with the two additional examples now ordered, the total number of UH-60Ms in the Mexican Navy fleet will rise to ten when all have been delivered. Alan Warnes
