Sikorsky Aircraft has been awarded a contract by the US Army exercising an option for the purchase of an additional 35 UH-60M Black Hawks. The deal, valued at more than $387 million, was signed on March 8.

The order is a modification to the $8.5 billion Multi-Year 8 contract awarded to Sikorsky on July 10, 2012. This covered acquisition of up to 916 UH-60M/HH-60M Black Hawk and MH-60R/MH-60S Seahawk helicopters for the US Army and US Navy, respectively. Estimated completion date is December 31, 2016.

As reported earlier today, this was one of two deals awarded to Sikorsky this month for Black Hawk production. A contract on March 10 provided long-lead funding for 21 US Army UH-60M and 15 HH-60Ms. Alan Warnes
