LOCKHEED MARTIN delivered the 200th Sikorsky MH-60R Romeo’ anti-submarine helicopter to the US Navy on November 12. The helicopter will enter service with Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron Seven-Two (HSM-72) Battle Cats’ at Naval Air Station North Island, California.
The cornerstone of the US Navy’s anti-surface and anti-submarine operations, MH-60R helicopters have flown more than 250,000 hours in operation with the Fleet, providing increased surveillance and situational awareness. The US Navy plans to acquire a total of 291 MH-60Rs. In addition, five of 24 aircraft on order for the Royal Australian Navy have been delivered and production of nine for the Royal Danish Navy has begun. Alan Warnes
